Procedural Clerk: Good morning, everyone. Welcome to the
Standing Committee on Crown and Central Agencies. Im Miranda Gudereit, the
committee Clerk. It is my duty as committee Clerk to preside over the election
of a new Chair. Id like to remind members of the process. I will first ask for
nominations. Once there are no further nominations, I will then ask a member to
move a motion to have a committee member preside as Chair. I will now call for
nominations for that position. I recognize Minister Carr.
Hon. Lori Carr: I nominate Doug
Steele.
Procedural Clerk: Minister Carr has nominated MLA [Member
of the Legislative Assembly] Steele to the position of Chair. Are there any
further nominations? Seeing none, I would now invite one of the members to move
the motion. Minister Carr.
Hon. Lori Carr: I move:
That Doug Steele be elected to preside
as Chair of the Standing Committee on Crown and Central Agencies.
Procedural Clerk: It has been moved by Minister Carr:

Chair Steele:
Thank you committee members. Welcome to the Standing Committee on Crown and
Central Agencies. My name is Doug Steele and I am the committee Chair. The next
item in the business today is to elect a Deputy Chair. Before we begin, I want
to remind members of the process pursuant to the rule 123(2) that the Deputy
Chair must be an opposition member. I will first ask for nominations. Once
there are no nominations, I will then ask members to move a motion to have the
committee member preside as Deputy Chair.
I
will now call out for nominations for an opposition Deputy Chair. Ms. Mowat.
Vicki Mowat: I nominate Erika
Ritchie.
Chair Steele:
MLA Mowat has nominated MLA Ritchie to the position of Deputy Chair. Are
there are any further nominations? Seeing none, I would now invite one of the
members to move the motion. I recognize Ms. Mowat.
Vicki Mowat: I move:
That Erika Ritchie be elected to preside
as Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Crown and Central Agencies.
Chair Steele:
It has been moved by MLA Mowat:
That Ms. Ritchie be elected to preside
as Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Crown and Central Agencies.

Committee
members, we will now establish a steering committee. At the beginning of each
legislature, a steering committee is appointed to establish an agenda and the
priority of the business for the subsequent meetings. I will now ask for a
motion for the establishment of a steering committee. I recognize Minister
Carr.
Hon. Lori Carr: I move:
That the steering committee be appointed
to establish an agenda and priority of business for subsequent meetings; and
that the membership be comprised of the Chair and Deputy Chair; and further,
That the steering committee shall meet
from time to time as directed by the committee or at the call of the Chair;
that the presence of all members of the steering committee is necessary to
constitute a meeting; and that substitutions from the membership of the
Standing Committee on Crown and Central Agencies be permitted on the steering
committee.
Chair Steele:
Ms. Carr has moved. Are the members ready for the question?

would like to advise the committee that pursuant to rule 145(1), the following

following Provincial Auditors chapter has also been committed to the committee
in the twenty-ninth legislature: 2024 report volume 1, chapter 16; Saskatchewan
Gaming Corporation Preventing Cyberattacks; and in the thirtieth legislature
from the 2024 report volume 2, chapter 30: SaskPower Maintaining Above-Ground
Assets Used to Distribute Electricity; and chapter 32: Standing Committee on
Crown and Central Agencies were committed to the committee.
That
concludes our business for today. I would like to ask a member to move a motion
