Speaker Tables Reports

The Speaker laid before the Assembly the following:

Provincial Auditor of Saskatchewan: Business and financial plan for the year ended March 31, 2026

Presenting Petitions

Petitions of citizens of the province of Saskatchewan were presented and laid upon the Table by the following members: Brent Blakley, April ChiefCalf, Jared Clarke, Vicki Mowat, and Brittney Senger.

Reading and Receiving Petitions

According to order and pursuant to rule 16(7), petitions from residents of the province of Saskatchewan, requesting the following action, were read and received:

To immediately address the short-staffing crisis in health care.

To meaningfully address the affordability crisis in Saskatchewan.

(Sessional paper no. 25)

To provide adequate, sustainable, and predictable operating funds for Saskatchewan’s 27 public and separate school divisions.

(Sessional paper no. 26)

To suspend the collection of the provincial fuel tax from gasoline and diesel for a period of six months to help families struggling with the high cost of living.

(Sessional paper no. 27)

To enshrine Duty to Consult into law by enacting meaningful duty to consult legislation.

(Sessional paper no. 28)

Sessional Order

On motion of the Hon. Tim McLeod, by leave of the Assembly:

Ordered, That the Rules and Procedures of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan shall be varied on an interim basis for the fall period of the first session of the 30th legislature as follows:

(1) That notwithstanding rule 30(5), rule 30(7) shall apply to both the amendment and the main motion;

(2) That notwithstanding rule 14(3)(b), on Thursday, December 5, 2024, the order of business shall follow rule 14(3)(a);

(3) That the time for the daily meeting and adjournment of the sittings of the Assembly on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, shall be 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. with a recess between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.; and further,

That the provisions of this sessional order shall come into effect immediately upon its adoption.

Motion for Address in Reply

The Assembly resumed the adjourned debate on the proposed motion of Kim Gartner, seconded by the Hon. Eric Schmalz:

That an Humble Address be presented to His Honour the Lieutenant Governor as follows:

TO HIS HONOUR THE HONOURABLE RUSS MIRASTY

Lieutenant Governor of the province of Saskatchewan

MAY IT PLEASE YOUR HONOUR:

We, His Majesty’s dutiful and loyal subjects, the Legislative Assembly of the province of Saskatchewan, in session assembled, humbly thank Your Honour for the gracious speech which Your Honour has been pleased to address to us at the opening of the present session,

and the proposed amendment moved by Jared Clarke, seconded by Vicki Mowat:

That the motion be amended by adding:

And, that the Assembly does not support the agenda outlined in the Speech from the Throne because it fails to include adequate measures to urgently address the challenges Saskatchewan people face regarding health care, education, and the cost of living; and further,

That the Assembly has lost confidence in the government.

The debate continuing on the motion and the amendment, the Speaker interrupted proceedings and adjourned the Assembly without question put, pursuant to rule 6(7).

The Assembly adjourned at 5:00 p.m. until Thursday at 10:00 a.m.
