B. McLeod: — Welcome to the Standing
Committee on Intergovernmental Affairs and Justice. This might the shortest
meeting we’ve ever had. We’ll see.
My name is Blaine McLeod, Chair of the committee.
And tonight we have several substitutions which I’ll go through as I introduce
the members. On my right we have MLA [Member of the Legislative Assembly]
Crassweller; we have MLA Bromm, substituting for Jamie Martens; and MLA Daryl
Harrison, substitution for MLA Patterson. On my left we have MLA Tajinder
Grewal, MLA Jacqueline Roy, and substituting for MLA Laliberte is MLA McBean.
Thank you for everyone here
tonight. And the meeting has been called because the committee has received a
letter from MLA Roy resigning as Deputy Chair. And since she has resigned, our
only item of business today is to elect a new Deputy Chair.
Now I will remind members of
the process. I will first ask for nominations. Once there are no further
nominations, I will then ask a member to move a motion to have a committee
member preside as Deputy Chair.
So I will now call for
nominations for the position of Deputy Chair. I recognize MLA Roy.

Roy: —
Mr. Speaker, I nominate Tajinder
Grewal to the position of Deputy Chair.
Chair B. McLeod: — MLA Roy has nominated Tajinder
Grewal to the position of Deputy Chair. Are there any further nominations?
Seeing none, I would now invite one of the members to move the motion. I
recognize MLA Roy.
Jacqueline
Roy: — I move
that Tajinder Grewal be elected to preside as Deputy Chair of the Standing
Committee on Intergovernmental Affairs and Justice.
Chair B. McLeod: — It has been moved by MLA Roy that
MLA Tajinder Grewal be elected to preside as Deputy Chair of the Standing
Committee on Intergovernmental Affairs and Justice. All in favour of the
motion?

B. McLeod: — All those opposed?
Hearing none, I declare the motion carried.
I declare the motion carried,
and that concludes our business for today. I would ask a member to move a
motion of adjournment. MLA Crassweller
