Reading and Receiving Petitions

According to order and pursuant to rule 16(7), a petition from residents of the province of Saskatchewan, requesting the following action, was read and received:

To take real action to fight climate change.

Seventy-five Minute Debate

The order of the day being called for the following motion for a seventy-five minute debate, it was moved by Aleana Young:

That the Assembly opposes Donald Trump’s threats to make Canada the 51st state, and also opposes the threats of western separation supported by Alberta Premier Danielle Smith and others.

A debate arising and the period of seventy-five minutes having expired, pursuant to rule 25(5) the Deputy Speaker interrupted proceedings.

Private Members’ Motions

The order of the day being called for motion no. 4, it was moved by James Thorsteinson:

That this Assembly call upon the new Liberal government of Canada to stand up for Saskatchewan by eliminating Bill C-69, the industrial carbon tax, the methane cap, the oil and gas cap, and the clean electricity regulations.

A debate arising, it was on motion of the Hon. Lori Carr adjourned.

Ordered, That this Assembly do now adjourn.

NOTICE OF WRITTEN QUESTIONS

The following question was given notice on day no. 31 and is to be answered by day no. 36:

Question no. 5 (Matt Love):

To the Minister of Education, (a) what is the total funding and year-over-year change in funding to independent schools in the province in the 2025–26 budget; (b) are there any new independent schools and/or any that changed categories, and were any other changes made to how independent schools are funded, in the formula or otherwise; and (c) which schools are categorized as: (i) registered independent schools, (ii) qualified independent schools, (iii) certified independent schools, (iv) alternative schools, and (v) historical high schools?
